SURE, THEY CAN DO IT FOR CHEAPER.....BUT!!!

NOT EVERYONE KNOWS HOW TO FRAME!

This Inuit serigraph was framed, in what the customer thought was..conservation framed.  It was anything but, conservation framed.  The value of this print would have been between $50,000 to $100,000, but due to its poor original framing it is now...worthless!

When the artwork was removed from the carrier board you could see the original color of the matting.  The discoloration is due to the acid content in the mat and fading due to UV rays.
The acid damage destroyed the decaled edge of the paper.
The paper was a ARCHES paper which, because of the quality of the paper,
withstood much of the damage done by the acid and lignin content of the artworks enviroment..

Acid burning is quite severe.  The acids have burned into the actual image,
and it has no structural integrity.

The acids have burned out the edge of the artwork.

Where the hinge was placed, when removed, you can see the original color of the Arches paper.
